Federal Customs Service: Russia to Increase Meat Imports by 23.6% up to 1.185 Million Thousand Tons in January - September 2008

Russia increased fresh and frozen meat imports by 23.6% up to 1.185 million thousand tons in January - September 2008 if compared to the corresponding period of 2007, as Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation reports.

In money terms, meat imports amounted to $3.508 million, up 50.8% in comparison with the rate for the corresponding period of 2007.

According to customs statistics, poultry imports in January - September 2008 decreased by 2.5% to 890.7 thousand tons, but in money terms, the growth was 2.6% up to $937 million, in comparison with the corresponding period of the last year.
