Sausage Product Share Is 60% in the Russian Meat Market24.10.2008 meatinrussia Russian per capita meat consumption rate is significantly lower than rates of economically developed countries, but the domestic meat market shows clear trend for meat product consumption increase. For several years Russian meat market has increased its volume by about 8% per year in average. The main factor which influences on the market growth rates is increase of the population income. According to the data of the company “AMIKO”, as of today, the main part of the domestic meat product market is taken by the segment of sausage products; its share in the market is about 60%. Meat semi-processed product market share is about 27% and canned meat share is around 13% of Russian meat market structure. Moscow market is characterized by high per capita consumption, which amounts to 30 kilograms of meat per year. About 10% of the whole Russian market falls on Moscow meat product market. Sausage segment represents 33% of total volume of Moscow market. Gourmet foods and ham share is about 20% and 17% respectively.
